Longwood Botonical Gardens

One of the largest display gardens in the entire United States. It probably started around 1798. By the 1850's, it was one of the finest collections in the United States. It fill into disrepair until purchased by du Pont around 1906. Beyond the thousand plus outdoor acres, there are also 20 indoor gardens within 4.5 acres of greenhouses. Lots of tourists, you definitely want to go as early as possible. |
